The session description is as follows:
Whilst Universities have a strong culture of ethics review in their research activities, it often stands in stark comparison to operational activities, where in particular there is little to govern the ethical dimensions of the expansion of educational technology. This is particularly concerning where we see increasing uses of data to profile students, or the use of surveillance technologies in areas such as assessment. In this session we will investigate one or more proposed scenarios for the use of personal data about students within a University, by using a set of principles designed to guide the ethical use of such data. There will likely be no easy answers!

This workshop is open to educators and students anywhere in the world.
